Intake piping:

-Intake piping is usually constructed from cheep 2"-2.5" exhaust tubing found at automotive shops. I would only consider 2.5" if you were planing for more then 14psi of boost.

You can buy an exhaust cut off tool to make cutting the pipe easier if you don’t have a circular saw.

Try to flare up the ends of each charge pipe (*except one) to prevent the coupler’s blowing off in boost. *You do however want to leave one un-flared, and then just carefully torque the coupler to your what ever boost level you find blow’s the coupler off. This will provide a kind of boost "cut" so you don’t "over boost". If the turbo over boosts it will blow the coupler off, instead of blowing your engine!

-Coupler’s can be bought from Home depot. They are in the plumbing section. They are 2" rubber coupler’s, that can take a decent amount of heat. They are around 5 buck’s so they are WAY cheaper then Silicon, plus they come with the clamps! Even though they say "2" pipe coupler" it really should say "2.5" pipe coupler" as they made the diameter so big. This mean’s that when you clamp it down onto a 2" pipe, it will expand.

They do work, but you have to get used to the "puffy" look. The coupler’s that connect to the turbo MUST be either nitrile rubber, or silicon, as the heat from the compressor housing will eventually melt the rubber of the Home Depot connector’s.

-A Bosch BOV can be bought from Turbonetic’s. It is made out of a thermoplastic and can take up to 16psi. It will not be the best for hi-boost pressure’s because the valve is so small, and if it is pushed past 16 it is common for the valve to tear. They cost around $43.

If your on an even tighter budget (of course you are), you can just find a used DSM BOV from a junk yard. Should be able to find one for less then 20 buck’s.

-You must take one of the charge pipes that is close to the throttle body to a weld shop(if you don’t have access your self) and get a piece of pipe welded on. This will be the Blow Off Valve location. Have them also weld on a flange if your going to be using the DSM BOV.

-An Intercooler will either have to be bought from a kit or custom made. A common custom one, is the IC from a Mitsubishi Conquest or Starion. They are the same IC even- though the car is different. The stock charge pipes off the intercooler will not work, and therfore need to be cut off, and the holes be patched. A weld shop with a TIG welder can do this for you. While your at it, have the shop reweld on some new pipes at the end of the side’s for the new pipes.
